Hi and welcome to another week of May here at C’est si Bon. We have finally had a few warm days here in the northeast and are very much looking forward to Memorial Day weekend and the start of summer.

Summer means one thing to me: strawberries. Growing up in Southern California, I had access to the most beautiful strawberries grown right in fields not far from my house, and I remember my mom coming home with huge flats of strawberries as big as my hand. While the strawberries here aren’t quite that big, they are still delicious and this week I’m bringing you recipes that will make the most of your strawberry season wherever you might be.

I know I added a strawberry sorbet to my recipes last week, and this week I’m bringing you a sherbet. It’s not made with fresh strawberries, however, but roasted ones. I hope you love the creamy texture and depth of flavor as much as I do. It’s one of my favorite summertime desserts to make.

Also included in this week’s recipes is a delicious strawberry shortcake. I try to make it at least once every summer, and I especially love making it over Memorial Day weekend. It’s the perfect dessert after a cookout.

If you happen to be grilling chicken at your cookout, save a few pieces to make this strawberry balsamic chicken salad later in the week. And if you’re not grilling chicken, then just pick up a rotisserie one at the store for this quick and easy weeknight dinner.

Maybe you’re hosting some friends and want a festive and light cocktail. These strawberry rosé Aperol spritzes are perfect for hosting since they can be made ahead of time.

I hope you enjoy one or all of these recipes this week and have a happy and safe Memorial Day!
